Kona Honu Divers

Kona Honu Divers is locally owned and operated. From the moment you step into the shop or board one of our boats, the "Honu One" or the "Honu Iki", you become part of our "ohana" or family. The 46' "Honu One" and 36' "Honu Iki" are custom built dive boats. They are extremely seaworthy, reliable, and fast with a smooth rides. They offer a comfortable environment for passengers as we visit one of over 80 pristine dive sites that make the Kona coast such a great place to dive. Our custom dive boats have DAN oxygen units and are coast guard inspected and approved. On a typical charter, you are one of 10 to 12 divers sharing our spacious vessels. This is less than 50% maximum capacity. There is lots of room for divers to "stretch out". Both our boats have marine heads or toilets, fresh water showers, dedicated camera table, rinse tanks, and lots of shade.

At Kona Honu Divers, the crew takes all the work out of diving. We set up your gear while you are checking in on the dock. When it's time to dive we make entering the water extremely simple and safe. A crew member will carry your gear to the stern while you wait, seated, on one of two metal benches. All that's left is for you to strap on your tank and stride into the clear, calm Kona water. After your first dive enjoy fresh island fruit and a cool drink while the crew switches your gear over to a fresh tank. After your second dive your gear is rinsed for you as we motor back to the harbor.

Our dives are guided by knowledgeable instructors who brief you on what to expect to see before you enter the water. Encounters with dolphin, turtles, and manta rays are common in the placid Kona waters and other visitors make special appearances to assure that every dive can turn into something extraordinary.

Kona Honu Divers

Manta Ray Night dive. Kona Honu Divers offers a one tank charter which lasts approximately three hours. This charter is recommended for snorkelers and is also an option for divers who have significant night diving experience and don't desire to do the orientation dive in addition to the manta ray night dive. Our most popular option for divers is the two tank charter. On this five hour charter, we conduct a nice guided tour on the first dive before the sun goes down and then do the manta ray night dive after an hour surface interval. This longer charter is strongly recommended for novice night divers and divers who have minimal experience or who have been out of the water for longer than a year. Snorkelers are welcome on either charter but most non divers prefer our shorter, three hour charter.
