Kayaks & Guided Paddle Tours Around Kona

Kailua Kona is blessed with some of the bluest, clearest waters anywhere, and with a good chance of sun any given day of the year it makes a great place for Kayak and Snorkel Adventure tours. You will see plenty of colorful tropcial fish, sea turtles, and coastal scenery. You may even get a sunburn if you're not careful. Rent a Kayak on your own for a spin around Kealakekua bay or an excursion closer to Kona town. Take a guided tour to meet other people and go to out of the way places with seasoned tour guides who can add to your experience with their knowledge of local history and sealife. The following places offer kayak rentals and / or guided tours.

Great Fishing Charters

"Whether you're looking for that big trophy catch of a lifetime, some delicious fish to take home, I'll do my best to give you the best Hawaii fishing trip you've ever had!"
Capt Jeff Rodgers
Captain Jeff finds "fishing" to be boring. Let's go catching!

Paddling Kona's clear, pristine waters since 1994, Ocean Safari's Kayak Adventures have introduced countless visitors and Kama'aina (Island Locals) to the fast growing sport of kayaking. Their focus is on small groups of adventurers making safety and fun top priority.

All guided adventures are led by experienced watermen/women who are Hawaii Lifeguard Certified and the company is fully insured. Ocean Safari's Kayak Adventures assist with water safety at Kona's annual Ironman Triathlon as well as other water events. Every Kayak adventure is different and may include dolphin watching, snorkeling, sea cave exploration and maybe even supervised cliff jumping. You may see tidal pools filled with eels, sea turtles and colored fish while wild parrots can at times be seen flying overhead.

Keauhou Sea Cave Kayak Tour

Enjoy a fun-filled day in a kayak out on the ocean and experience the way the Hawaiians traveled in the old days. The adventure starts in Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of Kamehameha the Great. After checking in, you'll receive your personal kayak (single or tandem). You'll be outfitted with life jackets, backrests, paddles, snorkel gear and bottled water. After that, you'll paddle into the calm and picturesque Keauhou Bay, where a group instruction will be conducted.

From there, you'll head south along the cliffs toward Kuamoo Bay. Along the way, you're likely to see dolphins, manta rays and turtles frolicking in the crystal clear water. There is also interesting natural scenery to marvel at, such as arches and blow holes along the cliffs. In Kuamoo Bay, you'll head for a sea cave that often allows kayakers to enter and explore its pink walls and aqua blue waters.

Adventures in Paradise

Our snorkel tours offer an esthetic and ecological way to access all that Nature has to offer in Hawaii. We recommend a guided tour to maximize your fun, ease and peace of mind. Guided tours get you to the good snorkeling spots, marine mammals, provide drinks & snorkeling instruction. Guides offer local color and history that will enhance your trip.

Our typical snorkel and/or kayak tour guest ranges in age between 7 and 80 and for about half of our guests, it is their first experience. Through the help of your guide the tour is designed to be comfortable for the novice and effortless for the experienced - allowing you to focus on your Hawaiian experience. We move at a relaxed pace, focusing on the scenery and marine mammals that may come our way. The physical output is low - similar to walking/hiking - so you don't have to be an athlete to participate.
